Sales Protocol v1.0

The First 10
Sales Protocol.

Do not scale. Do not run ads. Do not hire a salesperson. Here is the manual algorithm to secure your first 10 paying customers.

The Cold Start Reality

Hand-to-Hand Combat Phase.

Until you have 10 paying customers, you do not have "Product-Market Fit." You have a hypothesis. Most founders try to skip this by running ads or writing SEO blogs. This will fail. You cannot automate a process you haven't done manually.

Rule 01

No Automation. Send one by one.

Rule 02

No Outsourcing. Founder must sell.

Rule 03

High Volume. ~100 contacts needed.

Phase 1

Build the Hit List.

Do not sell to "everyone." You need a list of 50 specific humans who feel the pain your product solves.

The Algorithm:

  • Find 50 people with the problem RIGHT NOW.
  • Verify they have the money to pay.
  • Locate them on Twitter, LinkedIn, or Local Hubs.

Exeluma Constraint: If you cannot find 50 people who might want your product, you do not have a sales problem. You have an idea problem. Go back to /frameworks/idea-validation.

Phase 2

Lower the Barrier.

You have no brand, no trust, and no testimonials. You must frame the offer as an Exclusive Beta.

The Deal

Software + White-glove onboarding + Your personal phone number.

The Cost

A heavily discounted lifetime price in exchange for weekly feedback.

Phase 3

What to Say.

Marketers are ignored. Builders are respected. Sound like a builder.

Script A

The Builder's Ask

Best for LinkedIn/Twitter DMs

Hey [Name],

I'm building a system to solve [Specific Pain Point: e.g., organizing messy Notion workspaces].

I noticed you [Reason for contact: e.g., tweet a lot about productivity].

I'm looking for 10 'Founding Users' to test the MVP and break it. I'm not looking for a quick sale, but I am looking for brutal feedback.

Open to a 10-min demo?

Script B

The Problem Hypothesis

Best for Cold Emailing

Subject: Question about [Their Process]

Hi [Name],

I'm researching how [Role: e.g., Agency Owners] handle [Problem: e.g., client onboarding]. It seems like most people are stuck using [Bad Tool: e.g., messy spreadsheets].

I'm building a tool to automate that.

Are you happy with your current setup, or is it a headache?

[Your Name]
Phase 4

The Demo is an Interview.

The Discovery

"Tell me about how you handle [Problem] right now." Listen for 10 mins.

The Demonstration

"Okay, here is what I built. It does exactly what you just said you hated doing."

The Close

"I'll give you a lifetime license for $X, but I need a weekly feedback email. Fair?"

Diagnosis > Pitching

If you try to persuade, you lose. If you diagnose, you win.

Phase 5

Your Next 7 Days.

Do not just read this. Execute it across this week.
